Quick choosing guide

  1. Confirm fuel and pressure: natural gas vs propane and required inlet pressure. Size tubing from the manufacturer chart for total BTU and run length.
  2. Pick the system: CSST with AutoFlare fittings for flexible runs, or rigid black steel. Use the proper adapter when transitioning between systems.
  3. Choose connectors: match connector length, diameter, and BTU rating to the appliance. Add a shutoff valve and drip leg where required by code.
  4. Select regulators: verify inlet and outlet pressure and capacity. Use a vent limiter or pipe the vent to an approved location per code.
  5. Seal and test: use gas rated thread sealant or PTFE on NPT threads only. Do not seal flare seats. Leak test all joints with approved solution.
  6. Safety and code: bond and ground CSST, support piping at proper intervals, and have work performed or inspected by a qualified installer.

Pro tips: Plan BTU loads and lengths before you buy, bond and ground CSST per manufacturer instructions, and protect tubing at penetrations. Keep regulator vents clear and use vent protectors outdoors. Always follow local code and perform a leak test with an approved solution.
